Age 75 of South Webster passed away on November 26, 2017 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth.  He was born in Portsmouth on August 16, 1942 to Lanzie and Lorena (Flickinger) Maynard.  Allen was a graduate of South Webster High School and worked as a laborer at Gunning Refractory.  In his younger days he enjoyed drag racing and playing softball with his fellow employees.  He loved to hunt, fish, and enjoyed gardening.  An avid outdoorsman, he shared this love with his family, teaching them how to live off the land.

He is survived by his sons, Keith Maynard of Crossville, TN, Daniel Maynard of Pikeville, TN; daughters, Tammy (Charles) Calhoun of Homosassa, FL, Angela (Roy) Mullinix of Crossville, TN; brothers, Raymond Maynard of Sciotoville, Herman Maynard of La Porte, IN, and Richard Maynard of South Webster; sisters, Ruth Potters of South Webster, Anita Beechler of Mansfield, Wanda Riley of Columbus, and Linda Adkins of Oak Hill; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin Maynard and Donald Maynard; one sister, Norma Piguet.

Private services were held by the family at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in South Webster.  Interment was in South Webster Cemetery.  Online condolences may be shared at www.DWSwickNelsonFuneralHome.com.
