Conrad Forrest Nagel
Age 76 of Portsmouth, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. Conrad was born in Portsmouth on January 4, 1937 to Raymond and Maude (McLaughlin) Nagel Sr. who always called him “Skinny”. He enlisted in the Marines on February 4, 1954 where he spent the next three years serving his country. Upon his discharge he began working for the Norfolk Southern Railroad and was employed as a Conductor and Brakeman for the next 40 years until his retirement. Conrad was long-time member of American Legion James Dickey Post #23. He was very fond of fishing and was known as the family videographer. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Conrad is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol; 2 sons, Tim (Charity) Nagel of McDermott, Steven (Miranda) Nagel of New Boston; 2 daughters, Pam (Mike) Schopieray of Mansfield, Cindy (Wayne) Litteral of Wheelersburg; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter, Morgan “The Little Princess”; one sister-in-law, Nancy Nagel of Portsmouth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Raymond, Don, and Lee.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Elder Phil Crabtree officiating Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Nile Township with military rites provided by the American Legion James Dickey Post #23. Friends may call on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth.
