Gerry "Big Mama" Kay (Ehrhart) CarterApril 11, 1942 ~ July 25, 2017 (age 75)
Age 75 of Wheelersburg, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at OSU in Columbus. She was born April 11, 1942 in Portsmouth to Charles and Verbra (Garrett) Ehrhart. Kay was a class of 1962 graduate of South Webster High School and worked as a shoemaker for Williams Shoe Factory for 15 years and as a nurse’s aide at Best Care for 10 years, retiring in 2002. She enjoyed gardening, swap meets, traveling, and loved daisies. She was a former Boy Scout leader, a member of the Bloom Freewill Baptist Church, and had a great sense of humor.
Kay is survived by her sons, Chuck (Patty) Ehrhart of Wheelersburg, John Ehrhart of Sciotoville, Benjamin (Buffy) Carter of Wheelersburg, and Brian (Melissa) Carter of Minford; brothers, Mike (Sharon) Ehrhart, of South Webster, Beanie (Cindy) Ehrhart of South Webster; sisters, Velma Parker of Brunswick, Freda Ehrhart of South Webster; eleven grandchildren, Christopher (Heather) Ehrhart of New Boston, Ashley (Travis) Anderson of Columbus, IN, Joey Ehrhart of Sciotoville, Brent Ehrhart of Sciotoville, Joshua (Kaitlynn) Evans of Honolulu, HI, Erin Evans of Wheelersburg, Aly Evans of Wheelersburg, Ethan Boyes of Minford, Addison Boyes of Minford, Kaylynn Carter of Minford, and Abigail Carter of Wheelersburg; five great-grandchildren, Maleah, Donavon, Avalei, Cash, and Adalee Ehrhart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dave “Big Daddy” Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Wheelersburg.
