Age 43 of Portsmouth, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus.  He was born January 5, 1974 in Portsmouth to Chester Porter and Joanie Holbrook, then was adopted by his stepfather, Gary Beckwith.  A 1992 graduate of Minford High School, he worked in telecommunications with Nortel for10 years.  He became a contractor, building homes in the area for 8 years.  Richard attended Bonser Run Christian Baptist Church and more than anything, loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Amber Beckwith of Portsmouth; mother and stepfather, Joanie and Harlan Terry of Wheelersburg; grandmother, Juanita Holbrook of Portsmouth; sons, Richard (Dawnrica) of Portsmouth, Carter Beckwith of Portsmouth; sister, Rachel Colley of South Shore, KY; niece, Alice Colley of South Shore, KY; special nephew and niece, Jeffrey Porter and Melissa Nunley (Porter).  Richard was preceded in death by his father, Chester Porter; adoptive stepfather, Gary Beckwith; daughter, Sammi Marie in infancy; brother, Jonathon Beckwith; grandfather, Cecil Holbrook.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville with Rev. Ryan Holbrook and Pastor Danny Deck officiating.  Interment will follow at Bennett Cemetery in Minford.  Friends may call on Sunday from 6 - 8 p.m. and one hour before the service on Monday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be shared at www.WolfeNelsonFuneralHome.com.
