Barbara Ellen (Chamberlin) StatenApril 2, 1931 ~ June 15, 2017 (age 86)
Barbara Ellen Chamberlin Staten passed away peacefully in Gahanna, Ohio on Thursday, June 15, 2017. Barb was born April 2, 1931 to Roy and Marjorie Chamberlin in Wheelersburg, Ohio. She married Elmer Staten of Lucasville in 1963 and lived there until she moved to Buckeye Towers in New Boston in 1999. Barbara relocated to Stygler Commons in Gahanna in 2009 to be near her beloved son, Lowell.
Barb was an excellent cook and known for her delicious birthday cakes. She was a lifelong member of the Bear Creek United Methodist Church and was especially loyal to the ladies group ministries. She was also active at Antioch Free Will Baptist Church. She was a seamstress at Wilson ball glove factory, a cook for the Molly Lauman Girl Scout Camp, and a dietary team member at SOMC. Barb was an avid “prayer warrior” and maintained an active card ministry. Many younger relatives remember watching the mail for the card with the $2 bill!
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Staten; brother, Gene Chamberlin; and brothers-in-law, Caryold Smith and Roy Ashley. She is survived by son, Lowell (Donna) Staten; stepson, Roger (Lorna) Garlinger; stepdaughters, Janet (Arnold) Matthews and Rhonda (Larry) Sanders; sisters, Shirley Smith, Faye Ashley, Sharon (Dee) Hughes; sister-in-law, Betty Chamberlin; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Brizendine, Alyssa and Krista Staten, Sheila Lute (R.L.), Radawnda (Joe) Myers, Raeanna (Tyler) Coyle, Jeff Staten, Cheryl Vennel, and others; great-grandchildren, Alex and Madilynn Brizendine, Jared (Amy) Lute, and others; many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Thank you to the staffs of Stygler Commons, Traditions at Stygler Road, and National Church Residences Hospice for your compassion and excellent care. You are appreciated.
