Phillip Onda Cartee, 66, of South Webster, went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2018. He passed away from a tragic car accident.
He was born December 21, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Onda Lowell Cartee and Gracie May (Styles) Cartee.
Phil graduated from Vernon High School in South Webster, OH. He became an avid entrepreneur, owning several businesses in the Wheelersburg area during the course of his career. He was also very supportive of the Minford community. Phil was an active, long-time member of the Community of Christ Church in Lucasville where he served as a teacher and a priest. He enjoyed camping, horseback riding with his wife, Jane, and bass fishing with close friends. He also had the honor of being selected to ride his beloved horse, L.B., in the 44th U.S. Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. Phil loved his family very much and took great pride in his grandchildren, regularly attending their school and sports activities. He will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Currey-Cartee; daughter, Kristina Rae Cartee of Minford; son, Jason Onda Cartee of Sciotoville; granddaughters, Jaden Ashlee Cartee, Madden Raelynn Cartee, and Josephine Sage Monroe of Minford; brother, Shawn Lemuel Cartee (Elizabeth) of Portsmouth; sister, Becky (Cartee) Briggs of Winchester, KY; and stepsister, Sherry Lynn Carver (Ed) of McDermott. In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his sons, Phillip Todd Cartee and Nicholas V. Cartee; brothers, Frank V. Cartee and Jeffrey Lowell Cartee; and stepmother, Shirley Rae Cartee.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2018 at Community of Christ Church in Lucasville with Bernard Tilley officiating. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 5- 8 p.m. at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville with a one hour visitation at the church prior to the service on Monday.
