Age 84, of Zanesville formerly of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, January 21, 2019. He was born October 17, 1934 in Portsmouth to Harlan and Edna Myers. Richard was a 1956 graduate of Portsmouth High School and worked as a Chemical Lab Technician for Coke Corporation. He loved singing, gardening, sports, and eating donuts. He was the former lead singer for the Sunrise Quartet, the Crystal River Quartet, and the Singing Journeyman. Richard attended Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union and Mabert Road Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Crystal Walter (Matthew) of Zanesville; two grandchildren, Corbin Bays and Lauren Bays Perkins (Silas); niece, Carla Ann Taylor Emmons; nephew, Phillip Taylor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Evelyn Myers: and his parents.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with Pastor Gary Brown. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg.
